Poem – Joy Bittersweet

Joy Bittersweet –

It’s strange really, that living through many years –

Discovers that the life of joy mixes best with tears –

Now don’t you see, the desert of delight we love to eat –

Always has mixed into the flavor, some bitter sweet –

There is happiness beyond mention, when we’ve lived many good days –

But the journey has also given a pain of loss, that stays and stays –

When through this life journey, Christ holds your hand, it’s all OK –

Because for you the end is that life wins, come what may –

So as you age, Surely add many smiles to mingle with your tears –

Knowing that you have the peace that triumphs over all fears.

It’s strange how the rugged cross leads to joy in the morning –

And how its power leads to lasting life and victory, not mourning.

Thus, as a believer I can accept this strange incense of happiness & pain –

Because I know the result of this temporal life will be eternal, heavenly gain.
