The reason most people don’t hear from God is they’re listening only with their ears & mind. Guidance comes from The Holy Spirit to our spirit. Spiritual awareness is an alien concept to many people. One reason that people who meditate often claim a stronger connection with God is their practice produces spiritual openness. Being still inside & out, while being attentive can help you be aware of The Holy Spirit.

I will never forget when I was a young teen, the first time that I became supernaturally aware of the Holy Spirit, after coming to Christ. It was like witnessing a living Cloud. This experience had a profound effect on me at that time and this influence continues today.

Scripture, Reading, Music, Praise, Meditation & Prayer are some of the things that can help you attune to The Holy Spirit. So you can hear and receive from Him. 

Discernment is also an important part of spiritual direction. The Holy Spirit is the only voice I want to hear. [But there are other spirits.] So discernment becomes super important in knowing that the voice we hear is genuinely The Holy Spirit. But fear not. God will not allow us to be slipped a mickey [i.e. phony], if we are genuinely seeking Him & only Him. (John 10:5 & 10:27.)

God’s Holiness helps clarify true spiritual direction. If it is not true, honorable, clean, righteous & good; it is not from God. And a clear way to know this, if it’s not in keeping with the character and nature of Jesus.

It is easy to seek God when things are going great and we feel on target. But the times we need to spiritually seek God the most are those; when we recognize our mood & disposition is out of harmony with Christ’s nature. Guidance from God is like a Spiritual GPS. We may be moving but His signal will keep us on track and show us where to go.

God wants to get through to us, but He invites not demands. He knocks for our response but will not knock the door down. God is a Gentleman in the way He communicates​ and communes with us. He wants our free moral choice, to love Him ànd serve Him. God will never force us to listen to Him or accept His fellowship and guidance.

Drawing close to God is comparable to getting close to the sun. He is so pure that He burns the dross & impurity from our life, if we draw close. It is like being connected with a Living water faucet. He ever lives inside and guides us, if we freely open up to His Spirit and influence.
