Simple Truths about how to overcome in Christ

#1- Be good to all those you meet.
The story of Good Samaritan is the best guidance here.

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

#2- Submit to God and resist the devil.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:6‭-‬8 KJV‬‬

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 KJV

#3- Plead the blood of Jesus for cleansing.
1 John 1:7″… the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony …”
The life is in the blood!

#4- Command the devil to depart.
Some that know me really well, know I don’t even like to acknowledge the enemy. Nonetheless the scriptures make plain to resist & oppose him is a part of the Christian walk.
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Matthew 16:23 KJV

#5- Deny yourself and follow Jesus!
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? ((Self is as big of a problem, as the enemy.))

#6- Pray the prayer of the penitent and contrite in heart.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

#7- Love Jesus. Display the fruits of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22‭-‬25 KJV‬‬
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13:2
We sing the song “Set my spirit free that I might worship Thee.” These simple steps will help us do this. God means for us to break Oppression now. I honestly ask you, as someone who loves your soul.
