G.U.T.S. (24) Gather Until Twilight Stops –

OK! I’m over due for another GUTS release: G.U.T.S. (24) Gather Until Twilight Stops!

Do what you can, when you can, until you can not. Life is short. Give it your best shot now. Do not begrudge what you didn’t do yesterday or think only of what you will do tomorrow. Neither day belongs to you. Do what you can do today to be productive & live fully.

One of my favorite sayings is the Sanskrit Proverb by Kalidasa.

Look to this day,

For it is life,

The very life of life.

In its brief course lie all

The realities & verities of existence,

The bliss of growth,

The splendor of action,

The glory of Power —

For yesterday is but a dream,

And tomorrow is only a vision,

But today, well lived,

Makes everyday a dream of happiness

And tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day……………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………………………  If we don’t repeat our failures today; then we will never repeat them, because it’s always today. I keep a saying on my desk. “Every day is just one day.” There are many ways of looking at this and all of them are true.  If you encounter problems, they are more manageable if you will just think of handling them for this one day. If tomorrow comes & they still exist, then again you only have to handle them for one day. When you look at life in this perspective; every day in your life is as manageable as TODAY. Because every day is really just one day.

If we can learn that the best we can do is to do our best today! Then all our life becomes a perpetual motion of being our best. God will unfold the steps of our lives like a magnificent tapestry if we will handle it in this way. The only moment we really need to achieve is today, to be a success!

Learning to frame life in 24 hour segments has been one of the most powerful, life changing lessons that I have ever learned. It keeps me out of the endless bog of regretting the mistakes of yesterday. And the exhausting endless loop of worrying about tomorrow. I have a duty. But it is a clear, plain and manageable one. Handle today the best I can, with God’s help. It took me a 30 day sabbatical away from everything to get the endless cycle of self-defeating mental activity to stop.  To still my own brain; and then to re-learn to focus on that which I can actually influence: today.

Still, I must put the shovel in the ground to turn the soil to make a garden. No action. No results. So today, I must make the time count. I must do what I can. I am not called to do more than I can. But I am not called to do less. To get the goody out of life, I must give and get the best that I can TODAY.

Do what you can do today to be productive & live fully. G.U.T.S. (24) Gather Until Twilight Stops.

Good one, Tim! I love the upbeat encouraging message today. I’m in my twilight years, but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Life is too interesting to simply quit. Keep the messages coming.

    Hi Slam !

What a great message… “Every day is just one day”.

Sometimes,we just think way to much and when that happens ? Oh dear!
All of a sudden the day has past and nothing is accomplished..
Everybody has those days. I call those, my Pjs days and I have learned to turn those Pj days into very productive thought.

I have a friend who is really having a hard time with life and is very confused. We talk everyday .
The problem is they are living in the past and bringing it with them to their future. They don’t realize this is pure poison and will keep them from ever
    moving forward.
They do know the answer but refuse to hear the truth . Sometimes the truth is very painful but we must accept and move forward in order to be healthy and happy. Constant complaining and dwelling about the same thing over and over each and everyday, will only make u miserable and those around u as well…
You can’t change the way u feel but you can change the way u think..
    One day at a time..

Thank you so much for your Beams my friend I love each and every one of them . U inspire me…

    Your friend

    • Scout, “Each & every word you said is true.” I will pray for your friend. You are right. Accepting today’s reality is a real but often unappreciated part of a healthy life and a real faith. I’m having to fight through one of those “PJ” days myself; lol, (I’m a little under the weather). Thanks for your comment. Tim-
