G.U.T.S. #27 – Give Up Sour Thoughts

Yes, I remind you that GUTSISTHEKEY was literally started around these acrostic word games that came to me. Phrases that start with the letters G.U.T.S. So far there are 74 of them. To date, I have published 26. With this being 27; that means I have I have 47 yet to go….. So you definitely have something to look forward to if you like GUTS!  🙂

So that brings us to our GUTS for today. GUTS #27 = Give Up Sour Thoughts ! Sometimes the obvious escapes us the most. We are excellent at recognizing that which should not be in others. But often deficient in recognizing defects in our self.  Most of us know that we should think good thoughts. We realize that the theater of our mind is the threshold for what happens in our performance. But all too often, we allow the theater to be filled with dirty movies. Smut does not create healthy ideals, positive behavior or competent performance. Neither in our personal lives; nor in our professional lives.

Now there is the million dollar Question. What are we thinking? Not what are we saying that we think. What are we really thinking, in the private sanctuary of our minds?  That is the acid test to determine “whats on our minds.”  With a background in ministry; a lifetime of positive thinking materials & a ton of positive developmental training; I should always have been the most upbeat thinker on earth. But it was not until 2 years ago that I took a 45 day start-over; A sabbatical if you will, to literally start my life over. That I discovered that I “Mr. Positive” had very little control over my own thinking. WOW! Was this a realization. I literally had to learn to tell myself to shut up! I had thoughts that would run rampant. I was always thinking about everything. And I discovered that the key to positive thinking is to be able to think about NOTHING. To shut my mind off, in order to be still, in order to listen to my instincts, in order to pay attention to my surroundings, in order to listen to my heart!

So you guessed it!. I literally started my life over a couple of years ago. Not just on the outside but on the inside. I discovered  that It is unlikely that we will feel good and think bad. Letting go of the unhealthy aspects of our thought life is just as important as learning new things. Figuring out that you can’t figure everything out can be the healthiest discovery that you ever made. If there is a 6th sense, you will never discover its acute wonder, until you grow beyond the grip of things you are holding onto for security. Yes, I walk in a spiritual realm. I have thoughts that inspire others. Heck! They even inspire me. Because often, even though they come through me; they are beyond me. God helps me in every dimension. Home, Health, Profession & beyond. I “Feel Good” most of the time. Even when bad things happen. Because I have a new inner peace and serenity.

In the MarketPlace of Ideas; I am growing a proficiency to help people in the area of sales and marketing. Primarily in the topic of #Sales Fulfillment. And this truth is key in the marketplace as well. If some unhealthy thought routine is playing in your mind; you will not attain maximum efficiency and satisfaction. It literally took me 45 days to shut my thought processes down and reboot them with a better way of thinking. So do not take this advice as idle chatter. Invest in yourself. If you want greater career excellence; start with a healthier personal mentality. Let go of the sour thought processes of resentment, fret, fear, insecurity, pride, arrogance and ego.

Put virtues at the center of your being. I am a Christian and that is how I grow my virtues. I learn them from Christ. However, I am not pushing my beliefs on you. I am just advocating that it takes a healthy center of being, to live a healthy, happy life. If you do not feel good on the inside, you will not manifest true accomplishment on the outside. So regardless of you how you approach your Higher Power; the key is to be honest enough to shut down flawed processes and allow inspired processes to take their place.  What is your center of being? Have you ever really focused on making you well on the inside. Maybe that should be a new priority for you.

I literally take a daily inventory. I start with a morning targeting. Yes for me that starts in prayer but then it goes on into what I call “A Daily Focus Time.” Do you have a daily focus time. A time when the whole entirety of your being is invested in opening yourself up to enlightenment and renewal. This is critical to having a happy, effective life. If you do not have a daily focus time, start one today.

Not only do I have a morning targeting time, when I view the contents of my heart and mind to see if I am starting the day clean, fresh & inspired. Also I have a wind down time.  Before you go to bed is a good time to examine the day in meditation and prayer. Thank God for the Good that happened. Ask Him for help with the bad. Let petty thoughts flow from you as the stream of God’s guidance flows in you. Let His spiritual rest come to you; so that rest happens naturally from your state of contentment. Don’t hang on to resentment. Let deliverance & forgiveness flood your being.  Give up the sour thoughts of ill will, so there is room for thoughts of peace & joy.

Hate hurts the hater. Let it go. Let love flow. Let honor flow. Give Up Sour Thoughts. Reprogram your mind for good. Shut down the flawed processes. Scan out the viruses. Detect them and remove them. Reboot your mind daily with thoughts of life, health, goodness, virtue, service and excellence. This will improve every area of your life, including your career.
