Sales is like Sewing – Slam’s sales tips 1600-1700

Dear GutsIsTheKey Reader, I am overdue to release more #sales tips. So here you go; a fresh batch. But first, here is a little free sales coaching based on the first 16 tips.

sewing 1

  • #Sales is like sewing. You can’t collect until you finish the job.  // Often I take clothes to the tailor for repair. Sewing is is very evident if it is done right. I will not pay, until I inspect the work and make sure that it is done to my satisfaction. Selling is like this. Customer’s will not spend their money with you, until they are sure they are getting what they want for their investment. You should not try to force the sale, until the work is completed and the customer is adequately assured of receiving proper value, for the money they spend.  finish the work

  • #Sales is like sewing. You can see your progress, if you do good // Often, I decide to sew my own patches on my karate uniform. It always makes me feel good to see the stitches 1/2 complete and looking good. I am pretty sure at that point, that I am going to finish the job. Selling is like this. If you properly engage the customer and create the right kind of selling dialogue and atmosphere; you can tell 1/2 through that you will finish the sale. Do good work and you will learn to see, when your success is in progress.

  • #Sales is like sewing. Distractions can ruin good work. // I have actually sewed my patch and my uniform to the fabric underneath it; not paying careful attention to what I was doing. This requires that all the stitches be pulled out and the work started over. Similarly, if you do not pay attention to what your are doing in the sale and try to do too many things at once, you can make mistakes that can cause you to have to start all over again.  sewing 2

  • #Sales is like sewing. People can not always understand what you are doing, when you know full well. // I teach my students how to sew the stripes on their belts. At first, they may not get what I am doing but I have done it so many times that it is clear to me. Sometimes people may not get where you are going and question your work. Don’t forget! There is not substitute for confidence, when you know what you are doing. It will turn out all right, if you know what to do and do it well; even when others around you doubt.   confidence

  • #Sales is like sewing. People like what you do for them, when you do it right. // When I take a garment out of the bag and it is obvious that the sewing request has been done well; I am pleased. I go to the same tailor all the time, because I am sure of her good work. A good sales pro is like this. If you do good work, people will come back and tell their friends.

  • …#Sales is like sewing. You can fix tears and imperfections with good work. // Do not give up just because you make a mistake in the sales process. Sometimes a mend can be just as good as new. Try to fix any errors you make and continue with the sale. Mistakes can often be fixed, if you do not give up.  fixing mistakes

  • #Sales is like sewing. You can teach others to do it just as well, if they are willing to learn. // I am 53, soon to be 54. But I can still remember my mother sitting me down as a little boy and teaching me a few simple sewing lessons. If you are in charge of a sales team, never forget that the best way to teach is to show and tell. Just let your subordinates see what you do & they will learn, if they are willing.

  • #Sales is like sewing. Design and planning must come first. // Now, I am just a patch sewer. My daughter is a crochet expert. She makes extraordinary things knitting. But she starts first with a plan. She does not just pick up her tools and start knitting. First, she plans what she will do, obtains the proper materials and studies the plan. Then she begins her work. A good sales pro will do the same things We will start with planning our sales meeting. We will gather relevant resources and support materials, before beginning. And we will follow our plan, towards the desired results. This will much more often lead to sales success, than hap hazard stitching.   planning

  • #Sales is like sewing. It takes patience to make something worthwhile. It takes patience to make something worthwhile. It takes patience to make something worthwhile. Let this soak in. There is no substitute for it.

  • #Sales is like sewing. Your work turns out better when you use a good needle & thread. Tools & materials are important! Wow, It is frustrating to get 1/2 through a sewing project and have to start all over, because you used old frayed thread and it broke. Wow! Is it frustrating when you lose a prospect; because you did not utilize the most current resources and sales materials.

  • #Sales is like sewing. The end product looks amazing and justifies the work. // Nothing is more satisfying than a job well done. You can be sure that if you take the time to do good work and plan your steps and step your plans that you will finish with a good job. A completed sale should look like a finished work of art to a salesman. It is just the encourager to make you feel good about what you do and to do another one!  100% real

  • #Sales is like sewing. If you make a wrong stitch. You have to fix it. // I hate it when people try to cover shoddy, 1/2 done work. Sometimes, there is no covering a mistake. It must be fixed. Own up to your mistakes in the selling environment and make amends for them. Nobody likes a sales person, who is not honest about making a mistake. Own up to what you do and you will be the better for it.

  • #Sales is like sewing. Style counts. // Sloppy stitches make sloppy work and Neat stitches make neat work. Practice making every step a good one. Style counts. Make it look nice, through the whole process and you will obtain nice results.

  • #Sales is like sewing. You have to start with the end in mind. //  A great sculptor said of his work. “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” ― Michelangelo Buonarroti Vision empowers dynamic work. We need to see a vision of what our work done correctly will look like. Then and only then will we sculpt the right sales environment.  angel sculpture

  • #Sales is like sewing. Each stitch is important. #Sales is like sewing. You have do one stitch at a time. Even though you need the end in mind. This is vision. You can not take your eye off the current stitch and succeed. This is focus. We must see the importance of each step. For one step is built upon the other and a habit of placing importance on completing each step well, will cause the whole work to be more rewarding, satisfying and appreciated.  sewing 3
