The Power of a Test Market – Slam’s Sales tips 1500-1600

     Dear GutsIsTheKey Reader. In my passion to help sales people, it is my focus to help especially those who have chosen #Sales , as a career path.  If sales is more to you, than a passing fancy; then you can get down to the serious business of maximizing your sales potential. By deciding that sales is your career path; you need not fear getting stagnant in the sales game. This career path is one endeavor that with a good attitude can keep you fresh and relevant. The key is the good attitude and working on staying “relevant.”

     One way you ensure that you stay fresh in the sales endeavor is by setting new goals continuously. Yes, I know your company makes you set goals but that is not what I am talking about. You should have your own track to follow in the sales vocation. You should have your own professional goals, that go far beyond what your employer has for you.  Goals should be like the dawn; NEW every day and always different!

     One way that market relevance is obtained and maintained is through test marketing efforts. You do not always have to know the outcome to try something new….. As a matter of fact, you may never know the outcome until you try the new way of doing things. Trying different angles in your selling is like wearing a different shirt every day. It keeps you looking good and original.

    One thing that is critical in maximizing our market surveys (test market’s) is approaching them with a good attitude. In order to tell if the strategy works; your approach must be good. By changing our interior dialogue, with optimism; we can take otherwise fruitless tasks and experience astonishing, positive results.  As you try new things, make sure to include your good attitude. Otherwise, it is like trying to evaluate a car with poor fuel.

     Attitude can never be taken for granted and must always be worked on. A great attitude works, as long as you keep on working on it!

     I have witnessed many sales pro’s that never harvest the best possible result, because they quit before they give it a chance to work. In trying new strategies in your test markets; Make sure to give them a fair chance. In #Sales ; determination coupled with tenacity is a powerful combination. As you try new approaches; make sure to go after them with zeal and gusto and work on them to their conclusion.

     I have trained in athletic related activities most of my life. When I first learned to run in high school. I learned a powerful lesson that has helped me in the whole of life, especially sales. “Run Past The Finish Line.” Do not let up when you see the end in sight. In your sales and marketing efforts, give your trial runs this same kind of energy. Then and only then, you will have a better answer as to which approach, excels the others.

     Never forget that the marketplace is enormous. There are more avenues and angles than you can think of. If you feel stuck in your current efforts. Use your imagination. The answers may be outside the box.

     I tell sales pro’s often; “The best way to get a NO is not to ask. You get an automatic, NO!” You will never know if you do not try. Science is not the only field where many of the greatest discoveries were stumbled on; while experimenting. If we want to improve our sales game; we need to take calculated chances. We need to regularly examine new possibilities of presenting our product or service and helping our customer.

     Making it a regular practice to test market new ideas may be just the fuel you need to take your sales game to the next level.
